The WindsorEssex Nature Fund, held at the WindsorEssex Community Foundation, is a source of long-term support for the Essex County Field Naturalists’ Club (ECFNC), ensuring a lasting legacy and support for the future of this important local environmental organization.
In the 1990’s, the WECF supported the tree & shrub planting and river cleanup activities of the Little River Enhancement Group (Lil’ Reg). Later, when the Government of Ontario began matching dollar for dollar funds donated to community foundations by charitable groups, Lil’ Reg decided to establish the WindsorEssex Nature Fund.
The WindsorEssex Nature Fund is an endowment fund, which means the donations are invested and never spent. Only interest earned from the fund is forwarded to the ECFNC, providing meaningful support for the Club’s projects.
Whether you give as an individual, group or company, your contribution will help build a source of financial stability for the ECFNC. You can celebrate birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other special events or remember the legacy of a loved one.
On May 13, 2023, the WindsorEssex Community Foundation once again joined forces with the Essex County Field Naturalists’ Club and Lil’ Reg for an amazing celebration in honour of our 40th Anniversary! The WECF has made a community investment to support the planting of 40 trees in Derwent Park, forming a commemorative grove marking this important milestone year. We were delighted to join with our community partners for a planting event, and look forward to growing together as we move into the future!
