Often, justice systems are designed around urban realities. Together for Justice flips the focus, looking at what access to justice means in rural, remote, and Northern Ontario. Together for Justice is designed to advance equitable access to justice for rural, newcomer, racialized, Indigenous, and other underserved communities across Windsor-Essex. Through this initiative, WindsorEssex Community Foundation, in collaboration with Community Foundations of Canada and the Law Foundation of Ontario, is tackling persistent structural, geographic, linguistic, cultural, and systemic barriers that can prevent individuals from accessing timely legal information and coordinated support.
Together for Justice addresses the unique challenges can make accessing legal services difficult for rural, remote and northerncommunities by bringing legal education, navigation, and referral pathways directly into communities, including rural and agricultural areas. By strengthening trusted local entry points and promoting cross-sector collaboration, individuals can receive guidance and connect with the right legal and justice resources without unnecessary travel or delay.
