Community Impact Grant applications are now open!
The WindsorEssex Community Foundation (WECF) is pleased to announce applications are now open for the 2026-2027 Community Impact Grant (CIG) Program. This annual program provides critical funding to local organizations and initiatives that address priority needs across Windsor and Essex County.
Through the CIG program, eligible organizations can apply for grants of up to $15,000 for projects or programs that support collaboration, contribute to community wellbeing, and create lasting local impact. The program reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to community investment that responds directly to priorities identified in the Vital Signs® report. These priorities include:
Food Security
Getting Started (Newcomer Support)
Getting Around (Transportation)
Belonging & Leadership
Arts & Culture
Health, Wellness & Activity
Work
Safety
Housing
Environment
Learning
The WECF has supported initiatives across these priority areas by encouraging applications for projects that bring people together, build partnerships, and address service gaps. The CIGs enable local organizations to make a difference where it is needed most.
The program is guided by insights gathered through the Vital Signs® report, which highlights key social, economic, and environmental challenges in Windsor-Essex. By aligning funding with these identified needs, the Foundation ensures that grant investments are both informed and impactful.
Applications are encouraged from:

Registered charities or qualified donees

Projects focused on community well-being, equity, the environment, youth engagement, education, and more

Initiatives that demonstrate sustainability, measurable impact, and innovation
Over the years, WECF has funded initiatives that have:

Increased access to affordable housing

Expanded local food banks and food literacy programs

Launched mental health outreach for youth
