FOR GENDER EQUALITY

WindsorEssex Community Foundation is investing in community-led initiatives that advance gender equity across Windsor-Essex County, strengthening organizations that support women, girls, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people while addressing systemic barriers and creating lasting change.

Communities for Gender Equality is a collaboration between the WindsorEssex Community Foundation, Community Foundations of Canada, and Equality Fund, with support from the Government of Canada. Through this program, we are supporting long-term systemic change, to create communities of true belonging and advance gender justice in our region. While important progress has been made, inequities persist. Gender pay gaps, barriers to leadership, disproportionate caregiving responsibilities, and systemic discrimination continue to affect women, especially those from marginalized communities.

Lasting change requires sustained investment, strong partnerships, and a shared commitment to building a more equitable future for everyone in Windsor-Essex.

COMMUNITIES FOR GENDER EQUALITY

Through the Fund for Gender Equality, a national collaboration between Community Foundations of Canada and Equality Fund, supported by the Government of Canada, we have invested more than $500,000 in local organizations working to advance gender equity across Windsor-Essex County.

These grants support initiatives that confront systemic barriers, reduce economic hardship, prevent gender-based violence, and strengthen entrepreneurship and mental health services for women, girls, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people.

Through this collaboration, organizations across Windsor-Essex have led community-driven projects that have positively impacted more than 25,000 people in our region.
