The WindsorEssex Community Foundation (WECF) is pleased to bring Random Acts of Kindness Week® to Windsor-Essex County from February 14 to 20, and invites everyone in the community to take part in this annual celebration of kindness.
The message behind Random Acts of Kindness Week® is simple: Kindness Matters. This week offers an opportunity to reflect on what makes our community special and to show kindness and compassion toward one another. Residents are encouraged to perform a kind gesture for someone else, asking nothing in return except that the act be “paid forward” through another act of kindness. Acts of kindness don’t need to be grand or costly; even small gestures can make a meaningful difference and help make kindness the norm in our community.
The WECF encourages individuals, families, schools, businesses, and organizations to help build a more empathetic and connected Windsor-Essex by spreading kindness in ways big and small. From holding a door open to preparing and delivering meals to those in need, every act of kindness matters. The goal is simple: bring a smile to someone’s face and inspire them to do something kind for someone else.
To celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week®, the WindsorEssex Community Foundation is proud to share some of the initiatives taking place throughout the community:
-
The WECF will once again host its annual RAK Week® Colouring Contest. Teachers and students from both the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and the Greater Essex County District School Board have been invited to participate.
- Kindness Kits have been distributed to Random Acts of Kindness Ambassadors, also known as “RAKtivists,” with tools and ideas to help amplify the message of kindness throughout the community.
- The WECF is once again partnering with VON to deliver more than 250 cookies through their Meals on Wheels program.
If you are taking part in Random Acts of Kindness Week®, we would love to highlight your efforts on our social media channels. Be sure to use #RAKDay, #RAKWEEKYQG, and #RAKDayWindsorEssex, and tag @WECFoundation on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. For inspiration and ideas on how to participate, visit www.wecf.ca. Let’s show our community that kindness truly counts.
