PHILANTHROPY

In 2023, the WECF celebrated 40 Years of Inspiring Philanthropy. At the core of the Foundation’s outreach has been a rich history of charitable legacy giving through community initiatives and programs. In celebration of this history, the Foundation collaborated with our local municipal partners to deliver community betterment legacy projects across our region, tied to one of Windsor & Essex County’s most cherished assets—our beautiful waterfront.

The WECF made an investment in each municipality to support Waterfront Legacy Projects, and worked with our partners in community to support a number of other projects throughout Windsor & Essex County in honour and celebration of our 40th anniversary.

We were thrilled to be joined by so many community members in celebrating the legacy of giving that WECF has in our community, making a meaningful impact that will endure for years to come!

LEGACY PROJECTS

In 1983, the Foundation was established with the goal of protecting, preserving and beautifying of one of our region’s most cherished assets – our stunning waterfront. From our roots in legacy building, the WECF has grown over the past 40 years into one of Windsor & Essex County’s philanthropic mainstays, providing support across the region and inspiring philanthropy to benefit our community, today and forever!

In 2023, we celebrated our 40th anniversary by focusing on what we do best: collaborating with our partners to create projects that invest in lasting change, reflect who we are as the people of Windsor and Essex County, value our sense of place and culture, and honour both our local history and our future as it unfolds.

It was with this in mind that we approached our Municipal partners, to propose a 40th Anniversary community investment in legacy projects in each of our municipalities, tied to waterfront spaces. You can learn more about our 40th Anniversary Municipal Waterfront Legacy Projects below:
