The WindsorEssex Community Foundation is celebrating 40 Years of Inspiring Philanthropy throughout 2023, with a broad range of community investments. This year, we are investing in community to create projects that will invest in lasting change, reflect who we are as the people of Windsor and Essex County, value our sense of place and culture, and honour both our local history and our future as it unfolds. We are privileged to be celebrating our 40th Anniversary with phenomenal community partners.
On August 8, 2023, WECF Executive Director Lisa Kolody, Essex Mayor Sherry Bondy, and members of the community gathered at Colchester Park to celebrate the unveiling of a brand new waterfront legacy project, thanks to an investment from the WindsorEssex Community Foundation in celebration of their 40 Years of Inspiring Philanthropy.
An interactive artwork in the shape of an oversized picture frame has been installed at Colchester Park, creating a new waterfront attraction for tourists and local residents to enjoy. The frame provides an opportunity for visitors to capture their experiences and the beautiful scenery of Essex County, and contributes to the beautification and enhancement of the existing park space. The interactive installation features custom art from local artists Christy Litster and David Creed.
Members of the community who visit this attraction can share their photos using the hashtags #ExploreEssex and #InspiringPhilanthropy.
The investment is one of several 40th Anniversary Community Legacy Projects being supported by the WECF as we celebrate 40 years of Community Supporting Community in 2023. The WECF is marking this milestone year by creating lasting legacies, working with local municipal and community partners to create projects that will invest in lasting change in our community.
Stay tuned for more exciting projects, to be unveiled over the coming weeks!
