The Fund for Gender Equality is a partnership of Community Foundations of Canada, the Equality Fund and the Government of Canada. The WindsorEssex Community Foundation is proud to be on of 21 Community Foundations working to prioritize gender-focused granting, feminist recovery and the advancement of gender equity across the country.
On International Women’s Day 2023, the WindsorEssex Community Foundation announced $280,000 in funding to nine local organizations through the 3rd round of funding through this initiative.
In the first five months of 2023, Trans Wellness Ontario has offered over 470 intake and counselling appointments and we have almost 60 active clients currently engaged in counselling services through the Queer and Trans Counselling Program, with up to 30 new individuals reaching out every month to engage in services.
The program, supported through an investment from the Fund for Gender Equality, offers cost-free, gender-affirming mental health and addiction counselling services to queer and trans* individuals.
“We cannot say strongly enough, how the support, information and counselling that both my daughter, myself and indirectly, our family received has been an absolute godsend,” one program participant shared. “We highly recommend the counselling services of TWO and consider this organization a vital resource for the Windsor/Essex community.”
