Random Act of Kindness DayTM is a nationwide celebration of kindness promoting a “pay it forward” movement in the community that takes place annually. RAK Day is an inclusive, community-building initiative that was developed in 2008 by the Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation. The message is simple: do something nice for someone and ask nothing in return, except that they do something nice for someone else. It doesn’t have to cost a cent. Holding open a door, sharing words of encouragement, saying hello to a neighbour – these are all kinds of acts that citizens “pay it forward” on this special day.
The WindsorEssex Community Foundation has been leading this special day in Windsor-Essex County for the past 15 years, bringing the community together by engaging residents across Windsor-Essex in small acts of kindness and generosity.
