The John Atkinson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Constable John Atkinson to honor his service and the ultimate sacrifice he made while protecting the citizens of Windsor and Essex County. In 2006, Shelley Atkinson created the John Atkinson Fund at the WindsorEssex Community Foundation in order to keep John’s memory alive. A decade later, Shelley designated the fund to aid students pursuing a career in Law Enforcement. Helping the next generation of law enforcers reach their potential is John’s legacy.
Since 2016, proceeds from the Annual Constable John Atkinson Memorial Golf Tournament have been donated to the Scholarship Fund to give financial aid to prospective students who are pursuing an education in the law enforcement field, and to assist these students in reaching their full potential.
The 12th Annual Constable John Atkinson Golf Tournament will be held August 17th, 2023 at Ambassador Golf Club. All Proceeds raised from the tournament are directed to the Constable John Atkinson Memorial Scholarship Fund held at the WECF, which awards scholarships and provides financial assistance to prospective students who are pursuing an education in the law enforcement field, and assists these students in reaching their full potential.

Issuing A Charitable Tax Receipt
When making a charitable donation to the WindsorEssex Community Foundation, the Foundation issues Charitable Tax Receipts based on Canada Revenue Agencies (CRA) guidelines. The Foundation will issue an official donation receipt to the individual or organization that made the gift, and the name and address of the donor will appear on the receipt. The Foundation cannot issue an official donation receipt in the name of anyone but the true donor. When it comes to issuing an official donation receipt for a Golf Tournament, the Foundation will calculate the eligible amount of a gift for receipting purposes when the donor has received an advantage in return for his/her donation.
